When relationships change

Every relationship goes through ups and downs. For some couples, this means drifting apart, feeling stuck in old patterns of conflict, or questioning whether to stay together. Others want to strengthen their bond before small issues become bigger ones.

I work with couples who are navigating these crossroads. Whether it’s communication problems, growing apart, or dealing with external stresses such as parenting, career pressures, or caring for others, for example, I help you to navigate the problem together.

A safe, neutral space

In couples counselling, both voices matter. My role is not to take sides, but to create a safe, neutral space where you can:

  • Understand the patterns that keep you stuck
  • Talk openly without arguments escalating
  • Rebuild trust and connection
  • Decide on the future of your relationship with clarity

Midlife understanding

Alongside relationship therapy, I bring a deep understanding of how midlife transitions, including parenting teenagers, empty nest, menopause, late ADHD diagnosis, shifting family roles and looking after elderly parents can place extra strain on couples. Sometimes it’s not “just the relationship” but everything else happening in life that spills into it. I hold this in mind so both partners feel seen and understood.

How I work with couples

In our sessions, we’ll explore the cycle of conflict you find yourselves in, learn new ways of communicating, and practise tools you can take home and use in daily life. I’ll gently guide the process, keeping it balanced and supportive, while helping you both to listen, understand, and respond to one another in healthier ways.

Some couples use therapy to rebuild what feels lost; others use it to separate with dignity and respect. Whatever your situation, couples counselling can bring clarity, compassion, and the chance to move forward with more understanding.
