Trauma and the Rewind Technique
This technique may be for you if you have been involved in, witnessed or heard about a traumatic event which has left you with flashbacks, disturbing memories or thoughts or other symptoms such as nightmares and other physical sensations.

While talk therapy can be helpful, The Rewind Technique is a gentle yet effective way to process trauma without needing to relive every detail. Unlike traditional talk therapy, this method works with the mind’s natural ability to reprocess memories safely. It’s often described as fast (only requiring 2 to 3 sessions), calm, and dignified. It is particularly helpful for those who find it difficult to speak openly about what happened.

During a session, you’ll be guided into a relaxed state, where we’ll use imagery and dissociation to help your brain re-code the traumatic memory so it no longer triggers the same emotional response. It doesn’t erase the memory, but it helps to take the intensity out of it so, if you remember, it’s without feeling overwhelmed.

Where multiple traumatic experiences are causing distress, each one is treated separately.

The Rewind Technique is just one of the tools I use and can be used as a standalone therapy, however, it can also be used effectively alongside traditional counselling.
